Routes to a weekend prescription in Berlin

On weekends and public holidays regular GP practices in Berlin are closed. If you need a medication urgently, there are essentially three routes: the statutory on-call service via 116117 (waiting times depending on demand, often several hours), a hospital A&E (designed for emergencies, long waits for pure prescription requests), or a private house call. A reputable doctor will never issue a prescription without an assessment — a prescription is the result of medical judgement, not a shopping slip.

When you call us, a doctor typically reaches your address within 45 to 120 minutes, examines the complaint, makes a diagnosis and — if medically indicated — issues a prescription.
