Travel Vaccination Before Summer Holiday Berlin

Travel Vaccination Before Summer Holiday Berlin is a seasonal health occasion for which RAB Arztbesuche provides a licensed physician on a home visit anywhere in Berlin — daily from 6 am to midnight, usually within 60 to 90 minutes.

Anyone travelling in the summer months to southern or eastern Europe, Turkey, Morocco or the Black Sea should check their vaccination status some weeks before departure. We come with common travel vaccines to your office, home or hotel, advise per STIKO and CRM, and vaccinate on site.

Summer holiday from Berlin — which vaccines make sense

Mediterranean destinations like Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Morocco and Tunisia are easy to reach from Berlin during summer holidays. Even though these are 'non-tropical' destinations, travel-medical precautions are sensible: tetanus/diphtheria/polio should be boosted every ten years, hepatitis A is recommended for most Mediterranean destinations, hepatitis B for longer stays or activities with bodily-fluid contact.

We come for a house-call consultation, check existing immunisation status from the vaccine passport, screen for contraindications and vaccinate on site. For families we organise all vaccinations for parents and children in the same appointment. Prescription (if the vaccine needs collection from a pharmacy), documentation in the vaccine passport and a GOÄ invoice are standard.

TBE — Berlin-Brandenburg is a risk area

Brandenburg is a TBE risk area — anyone hiking, camping or spending time at Werbellinsee, Stechlinsee or Saxon Switzerland on summer holiday should be vaccinated. Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Thuringia and Saxony are also affected. Primary immunisation requires three doses — a rapid scheme over four weeks is possible.

Last-minute trip — is it still worthwhile?

Even with short-notice bookings, advice is valuable: tetanus booster, hepatitis A (protection from around day 14) and MMR booster are often still useful. Some vaccines (rabies, Japanese encephalitis) need more lead time — we are honest about effort and benefit.

How the travel-vaccination house call works

You call, name the destination, trip length and planned activities. We discuss which vaccines make sense and which we bring along. Some specialist vaccines you must collect from a pharmacy beforehand — we issue the prescription.

At the appointment: vaccine-passport check, individual advice, informed consent, vaccination, documentation, follow-up appointment if needed. GOÄ billing via our Privatärztliche Verrechnungsstelle, vaccine costs itemised separately.

Emergency? Dial the emergency number

If unconscious, with severe chest pain, breathlessness or heavy bleeding, dial 112 immediately. Our service complements the emergency services — it does not replace them.

Frequently asked questions

How much lead time do I need for travel vaccines?

4 to 6 weeks before departure is recommended. Some vaccines need multiple doses, others work within 7 to 14 days. 'Late' is often better than not at all — we discuss this individually.

Does insurance cover travel vaccines?

Private insurance usually yes; statutory cover varies by destination and fund. We bill per GOÄ; insured patients submit the invoice for reimbursement.

Which vaccines do I need for Turkey?

Tetanus/diphtheria/polio up to date, hepatitis A recommended, hepatitis B for long stays or activities with injury risk. For travel into eastern Turkey, additional advice.

Can I vaccinate the whole family during a house call?

Yes, this is often the main reason for our travel-vaccination house call. All family members can be vaccinated in the same appointment — efficient and uncomplicated.
