Sunday ill — and Monday is a working day
The pattern is everyday: Sunday morning the patient wakes with a fever, sore throat or beginning bronchitis. The GP is not reachable until Monday morning — but Monday morning the sick note must already be with the office. A phone call to the employer covers the absence but not the documentation. Many employers require a sick note from day one; from day three on it is required by labour law anyway.
A Sunday sick note requires a medical examination — whether in a practice, a walk-in clinic or a house call. We come to you, examine, issue the certificate and send it as a photo to your employer on request. That saves you the public-transport trip with a fever, the waiting-room time and the multiple-exposure risk.
Typical reasons for a Sunday sick note
Acute respiratory infections with fever (most common), streptococcal angina with inability to swallow, acute productive bronchitis, sinusitis with pressure and headache, conjunctivitis with suspected bacterial cause, gastroenteritis with vomiting and diarrhoea, lumbago with immobility, migraine attacks lasting hours, urinary infections with burning and urgency, allergic reactions with airway involvement. We only issue a sick note when the findings objectively support it — no favours.
How the sick note holds up — what employers want to see
A German Arbeitsunfähigkeitsbescheinigung (AU) is required under § 5 Entgeltfortzahlungsgesetz when incapacity lasts more than three calendar days. Many employers require it from day one. The AU contains patient data, start of incapacity, anticipated end, ICD-10 diagnosis code, physician signature and stamp. We issue it after examination, send it as a photo to your employer immediately on request and send the original by post if wanted. For special needs (e.g. certificate for civil-servant employers, combined 'unfit to work and travel') we adapt the wording accordingly.
How a Sunday sick-note house call works
You call. We record symptoms, address, insurance and employer requirements (from day one? what form?). We give a realistic window. On site: history, thorough physical examination, targeted diagnostics (rapid tests, pulse oximetry). The sick note follows the examination — not the other way round.
You receive prescription if needed, sick note, GOÄ invoice, behavioural rules, advice on re-presentation if worsening or extension needed. On request we send the certificate immediately as a photo to your employer. For courses requiring extension, you can call us back or see your GP next day — both work.
GOÄ and cost of the Sunday sick note
The house call is billed under the GOÄ — typical Sunday cost EUR 260 to 400 including examination, diagnostics and certificate. PKV reimburses fully. Beihilfe likewise. Self-payers pay directly. The sick-note code is part of the GOÄ invoice.

Is a Sunday sick note really valid?
Yes. A sick note is valid regardless of the weekday. The prerequisite is a medical examination. We issue it after examination, with diagnosis, stamp and signature.
Can I send the sick note to my employer immediately?
Yes. We send the certificate as a photo right after the visit — by email or encrypted messenger. The original follows by post.
Do you also issue online sick notes without examination?
No. A sick note without examination is not medically or legally defensible. We come for a house call.
How long do you sign off for?
