Practice closed on weekend Berlin
Practice closed on weekend Berlin is an occasion for a private medical home visit, for which RAB Arztbesuche dispatches a licensed physician to your home, office or hotel in Berlin daily from 6 am to midnight.
Berlin practices are closed from Friday afternoon to Monday morning. Falling ill during this stretch leaves you between an overloaded 116117 walk-in clinic and the emergency room. We come to your home — Saturday and Sunday, 6 AM to midnight, with full diagnostics, fast sick note, prescription, and a physician's letter to your GP for Monday.

Practice closed — what to do until Monday
Berlin practice hours are clearly defined: Friday until 5 PM at the latest, then nothing until Monday. Some close as early as Thursday afternoon. The result is a window of 60 to 80 hours without medical care — unless the patient researches alternatives themselves. Official routes: the emergency room for life-threatening events (112), the statutory on-call line (116117) for on-call needs, individual weekend walk-in clinics with often hours-long waits.
We are the private alternative for patients who cannot or do not want to wait in an unfamiliar walk-in clinic — because they are too ill, have children at home, cannot leave elderly relatives alone, or do not want a two-hour public-transport trip from their hotel. We come to you with the same diagnostics that the regular practice would offer — and more: rapid tests, ECG, pulse oximeter, otoscope, inhaler, IV equipment, first-line medications. Full examination. Sick note. Prescription to a Berlin emergency pharmacy. And, importantly, a full physician's letter that we can send to your regular practice so that the GP sees on Monday exactly what happened over the weekend.
Typical reasons over the weekend
Acute respiratory infections with fever, streptococcal angina, acute otitis in children, gastroenteritis, urinary infections (especially in women), lumbago, allergic reactions, hypertensive crises, migraine attacks, acute bronchitis, conjunctivitis, minor injuries without surgical need, allergic rashes, croup in children, fever-seizure assessment. Exactly the spectrum the regular practice treats Monday to Friday — and which suddenly has no contact at the weekend.
Handover to your GP on Monday
An important part of our weekend visit is the seamless handover to your regular practice. We write a physician's letter with history, examination findings, diagnostics, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up advice — on request we send it encrypted to your GP so it is on their desk Monday morning. The practice can pick up seamlessly, see what happened, knows the prescribed therapy, plans the follow-up. That is the professional form of a weekend house call — not 'prescribe something and disappear'.
How the weekend house call works
You call. We record symptoms, address, GP and insurance. We give a realistic window — demand is higher on weekends, but we stay precise. The physician calls before arrival. On site: thorough examination, targeted diagnostics, treatment, sick note, prescription (on request to a Berlin emergency pharmacy open on the weekend).
You receive a physician's letter, GOÄ invoice and a follow-up plan: what to do until Monday, when to see the GP, when to return to us if symptoms worsen. On request we send the letter to your GP. If needed we organise hospital referral — for life-threatening emergencies, 112.
GOÄ and weekend surcharge
Billing under the GOÄ via our Privatärztliche Verrechnungsstelle. Typical cost EUR 240 to 400 depending on time of day and diagnostic scope. The GOÄ provides weekend surcharges — for PKV patients and Beihilfe beneficiaries this has no out-of-pocket impact because everything is reimbursed in full. Self-payers typically pay EUR 30 to 80 more on weekends than on weekdays.
For life-threatening emergencies: 112. For statutory on-call needs: 116117. We are the private alternative — faster, more thorough, no waiting room.
Emergency? Dial the emergency number
If unconscious, with severe chest pain, breathlessness or heavy bleeding, dial 112 immediately. Our service complements the emergency services — it does not replace them.

Yes — encrypted by email on request. Your regular practice has the full course in hand on Monday morning.
